Most often times yes. The best approach is to extract as much water as possible first, with a wet-dry vacuum. CALL US and we will make any necessary cuts (if any) and pull back the carpet and remove the pad that was wet. We would then place plastic buckets under the carpet to raise it off the floor. Now you're ready to place 2-3 fans in the room to form cross ventilation. After the carpet is dry (3-4 days), we would put down new pad and re-stretch the carpet.

If moisture remains in any material in the basement -- contents such as cardboard boxes, wall studs, concrete, etc. -- then mold will continue to grow and produce the volatile organics comprising 'mold odor'. If, in addition to the flood, moisture is entering slowly through the foundation or floor, then the condition will be chronic unless you stop it, say, by sealing the concrete. A lot depends on just how flooded it is. If you were on vacation and your sump pump failed causing you to have several inches of water in your basement I would suggest a 2” submersible pump that will pump up to 4,000 gallons per hour. Once the majority of the water is removed, a wet-dry vacuum, air movers and dehumidifiers are in order. In zsh, you need to set three variables to make sure your history is written out when the shell exits. For example, HISTSIZE=200 HISTFILE=~/.zsh_history SAVEHIST=200 $HISTSIZE tells the shell how many lines to keep internally, $HISTFILE tells it where to write the history, and $SAVEHIST, the easiest one to forget, tells it how many to write out. The quickest way to tell if your engine is flooded is if when pulling the starter cord, the engine seems to "lock up" and the car lifts off the ground.
