My computer crashes often / I reformat my hard drive often. Is eBahn Desktop right for me?

eBahn 3 FAQ
No. eBahn Desktop serial numbers and activation keys are tied to a single computer during the activation process based on your computer ID. For this reason, we strongly advise that once you have activated your eBahn manual, you do not reformat or make hardware changes to your computer. If either of these happens it is likely that eBahn will not recognize your computer as the 'same' computer.

I have to reformat my hard drive / reinstall Windows. What should I do with my eBahn License?

eBahn Version 3.0 FAQ
Serial numbers and activation keys are tied to a particular computer during activation. If you have to do either of these, it is likely that eBahn will not recognize your computer as the 'same' computer. Before doing these types of things to your computer, please first deactivate your serial number through the eBahn License Manager. We currently allow up to 5 transfers per calendar year. Every January 1, the number of transfers you are able to do resets to 5.

How do I reformat my hard drive?

V+ Faq - Cable Forum
Think long and hard about whether you need to do this. You will lose all your recorded programmes, plus all planned recordings and series. But it might be necessary if your V+ is playing up badly. Remember that if Virgin Media swap the box you'll lose your recordings anyway, so it's worth a go as a last resort. If you decide to go ahead with the reformat, this is how you do it. You need to do all this using the remote, not the front panel buttons.

If Trade Banker® is accessed via the Internet, the data is stored on the external server and your hard drive will not affect your data. If the data were stored on your server, assuming it is not your desktop, the same would be true. If the server crashes, whatever back-up procedure is in place would determine the amount and extent to which any data is lost. Lex-Tek regularly backs-up its server and any data loss should be minimal.

Katz.cx -- Quick SSL premium
If your hard drive or server crashes, the crucial question to answer is whether or not you made a back up of the key pair (private key and certificate/public key) prior to the crash. If you did not make a back up prior to the crash, you have most likely lost your private key. Without the private key, the certificate is useless. Once the private key has been lost, the only solution is to purchase a new certificate. Since we never see the private key, we cannot simply resend it to you.
