After I burn a game, even though I have a modchip installed it won't let me play it, like there is another form of copyright protection. I'm sad to say thats true. Some game developers have gotten wise to the whole backup scene, and have found ways to prevent it from happening. If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, or Maxell High Grade (DVD+R's). The PS2 laser is picky, these are the only three types of media you should trust for maximum reliability and compatibility with your PS2. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, Dynex, Princo, Bulqpaq, etc. If you really want to do the PS2 backup thing right, pick up some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim's. A: You need to own a copy of Dink Smallwood on CD (available from RTSoft at www.rtsoft.com). There is a folder on your DINK CD called "develop". Copy everything from this folder into your main Dink directory. That's it! The map editor is called DINKEDIT.EXE. A: Well, after making sure you copied the development folder off your CD into your main Dink directory, you need to make a subdirectory for your D-Mod. Under your main Dink directory, make a folder (directory) to store your D-Mod files. A: If you have WinZip, I believe the task is easier. There is also a tool for winzip to make self-extracting EXE's out of a ZIP file. There is a similar tool for PKZIP DOS but it doesn't automate the installation. Anyway, I use PKZIP 2.04G for DOS, and I created a batch file called M.BAT. I put this file in my D-Mod directory. Note: I use Alcohol 120% as my backup program for ripping scratched originals. DVD Decrypter can be picky with scratched discs, even when set to ignore read errors. Alcohol has ripped some horribly scratched games for me. At times I've let it run six to eight hours to get a usable image. This will put undue strain on your burner and not recommended.
