How can I tell if my notebook has an infrared port?

CSI Technical F.A.Q.
Sometimes an infrared port may be so well integrated into the casing of the notebook that it may be difficult to tell that a port even exists on the notebook. Look for a square or oval aperture usually on the rear sides or center panel. Some manufacturers place the port on either the left or right side panel and others may even have two ports -- one on the rear and one of the front of the notebook. Consult your manufacturer's documentation for the location of the infrared port on your device.
