The higher the better! We suggest using at least 300 DPI for all images. Try to achieve a size of at least 2000 x 3000 pixels.

That depends on what you are scanning. Magazine images should not be scanned at much over 100 dpi, because the ink dots used in the image are about that size (anyone know exactly?) and you will get pre-dithered images if you use a finer scanner setting. ArtMatic's images are exported without a DPI setting. When exporting from ArtMatic Pro, enter the pixel dimensions of the image you want. For example, if you want the image to be 4 inches square at 300 dpi, export the image with 1200 pixels by 1200 pixels. Your Picture Mosaic may have a resolution ranging from 88 mega pixels to 200 mega pixels depending on the size of your Picture Mosaic (keep in mind that the top digital cameras only have a resolution of about 3 to 4 mega pixels). That depends. If you intend to use the scan to make 4 x 6 prints, a resolution of 1370 DPI (cropped) will capture all the image data 35mm film has to offer at that print size. If you intend to make 8 x 10 prints, then the negative or slide will have to be enlarged or magnified more to cover the larger print area. Use the same resolution as what your monitor is currently set at. To find out click Start-->Settings--->Control Panel, double click on Display. Click on the Settings tab at the top. In the bottom right of this screen, you will see the Screen Area. It will say either 640X480, 800X600, or 1024X768. This is the resolution your computer is currently using. True resolution is the number of dots per inch of reflected light captured by the scanner head. The scanner head is physically limited in the number of dots which it can capture. Interpolation software (usually built in to the scanner, but also available in raster manipulation programs) can make a good guess at what lies between the dots recorded by the scanner. We don't think that 99% of our customers really need to pay to have their slides scanned at an exceedingly high resolution unless they plan on having prints made that are huge, but we can do it for you. We offer scanning at 3200ppi and 4800ppi for those that have extraordinary needs. Please see our order form for higher resolution scanning. We will print with whatever dpi is approved on your files. We recommend that you submit black and white bitmap images scanned at least at 600 dpi, grayscale images at 300 dpi, and full-color photos at 300 dpi for the best possible quality. We output to our digital copier/printers at 600 dpi.
