If you have your files on an old Mac with a SCSI drive internal or external; and your new Mac does not have a SCSI external connector or use SCSI drives internally, what can you do? I'll discuss many options. My GENERAL advice is as follows. EITHER use some kind of Mac which HAS SCSI to read your drive, and use it to transfer files either by connection or by transfer to another media (floppy, CD, ZIP disk). OR, you add some kind of SCSI hardware to your new Mac to read the drive.

PLEASE READ THIS PARAGRAPH TWICE. NO USB external floppy drive will support Apple 400K or 800K diskettes. Period. Also, there are NO EXTERNAL SCSI-BASED floppy drives to speak of, today. Period. And Apple's older external floppy drives for 400K, 800K and 1.4Mb are intended for use ONLY with Apple Macs which already have an INTERNAL floppy drive. Period. Mac 400K and 800K diskettes are written in a unique fashion, no standard IBM-type floppy disk controller card in a PC can read them.

NetLibrary audiobooks cannot be played on Macs because the latest version of Window Media Player available for Macs (version 9) is based on Windows Media Rights Manager version 1.3. NetLibrary uses version 2.x licenses for downloadable audiobooks in order to maintain a high level of security. VLC uses libdvdcss to read all DVDs, disregarding their zone. All regions are supported without any constraint. It doesn't work 100% of the time and can take a long while before it starts the DVD. You can't use iMovie with a DCam webcam directly because the application accepts only DV input (camcorders). There is a free application called FrameSplicer that will allow you to convert QuickTime movies into DV streams that you can then open in iMovie. The Macam Webcam drivers do not play nicely with the IOXperts drivers. Do not install a Macam driver at the same time as any IOXperts video driver.
