In most normal uses, KLASS KOTE will provide substrate protection for years without re-coating. In some circumstances, continued and prolonged, outside exposures to ultra-violet light may cause some degree of oxidation (chalking) and/or induce slight color fading. However, most normal periods of sunlight exposure will not affect the film. Even if chalking occurs, the product will retain its outstanding protective integrity for years.

Testing appears to indicate that KLASS KOTE and Hobbypoxy/K&B Superpoxy are freely interchangeable. That is to say, that any of the components of any of the three will work equally as well together as the "correct" brand. Modelers who have a quantity of colors of Hobbypoxy or K&B but no catalysts or reducer for them, may possibly be able use up what they have by using Klass Kote catalyst and/or reducer. KLASS KOTE will harden to tack or dust free in 20 minutes to 1 hour. After 4 hours, the film will be thumb print free. After 24 hours, the painted surface/object will be ready to be placed into most normal situations (package able) but complete cure (sword hardness) will generally take several days. The best time to recoat epoxy is within 48 hours after the initial coat. Because epoxies take days to reach a full cure, a second coat applied shortly after the first will partially fuse to the first coat rather than forming a simple mechanical bond. Normal paint products, although also consisting of many different ingredients, does not have a catalyst part and relies mainly on the evaporation of solvents to air-dry. This process leaves the binder elements that keep the solids and pigments together as a coloured layer on the surface. Yes, Automotive paints of the past were lacquer and enamels that, with care can be repaired and maintained as easily as the epoxy and urethane paints if applied correctly. I also heard about Sico Acrythane industrial paint. Then there are the PPG systems and of course, the usual aircraft paint. I have even heard of people using marine paint with a roller. XTR Surfboards from stock will only take 3-6 days after order and payment are received. Custom XTR surfboards require the shaper-designer to do the final touches. It depends on the particular shaper how fast you can get your board, some shapers are particularly busy at summer/spring time. Milk Paint in its dry powder form will last nearly indefinitely if it is stored in a dry, cool and light-proof container. Once it is mixed with water, it should be used within a day (or two if refrigerated overnight). After 24 hours the applied paint will be fully cured and it should last for generations (interior).
