Single overhead cam (1 camshaft, exhaust only) and Dual overhead cam (2 camshafts, intake and exhaust)

Generally speaking, DOHC engines have higher displacement and dual cams (one for exhaust timing and one for intake) which can be tuned independently for a higher range of performance. They are also usually more "stout" engines than single cam engines. It is however also possible to tune single cam engines as well. They have been around for some time and the same number of modifications exist for single and dual cam engines.

DIS means distributorless ignition system. No rotor! - Chrysler is moving past DIS to a coil-on-plug system SOHC and DOHC refer to the number of camshafts; one or two. TBI - throttle body injection; one or two injectors spray fuel into the air as it heads to the cylinders. MPI uses one fuel injector for each cylinder. It sprays fuel in the intake manifold, firing at the intake valves. These are smoother than TBI systems, and have more power *and* better mileage.

Previous to '99 all 2.5L were DOHC and the crankshaft thrust bearing was on the #3 main bearing. This caused a see-sawing at high rpm due to the 2.5's longer stroke (everything was seemingly fine on 2.0 and 2.2 motors using this design). In addition, the 97-98 DOHC 2.5L used a piston with no skirt, which looked a bit like a pancake.

While the exhaust ports are the same size on all of the heads in question (1g and 2g DOHC and 4G64 SOHC), the intake ports vary wildly between them. The largest intake ports are found on the 1G DOHC head, followed by the 2G DOHC head, and finally our 4G64 SOHC head. For comparison, the 2G DOHC head intake port is 27mm x 55mm in size, while our 4G64 SOHC intake port is 27mm x 43.5mm in size. That's about a 20% reduction in size.

NO Same pattern... different spacing... A DOHC engine will not work in a stock SOHC frame... It will bolt up and different spacers made... but the front sprocket will be lined up with the left seat down-tube... may be OK in an aftermarket or custom frame with a single seat down-tube....

Isotonic solutions cause no swelling or contraction of the tissues with which they come in contact, and produce no discomfort when instilled in the eye, nasal tract, or other body tissues.

The tonicity of the solution is less than that of the cells. When this occurs, water enters into the blood cells causing them to swell and finally burst, with the liberation of hemoglobin, or water invasion of the body’s cells. If this invasion is beyond the body’s cells, then water intoxication results, with convulsions and edema.

The tonicity of the solution is greater than that of the cells, which can cause a variety of complications, such as, hyperglycemia, intracellular dehydration, loss of water and electrolytes, dehydration and coma.
