Starfleet Models - FAQ
Most plastic models are injection-molded in polystyrene, and the parts are glued together with plastic solvent. While most resin models are cast-molded in a thermosetting epoxide polymer that cures (polymerizes and cross-links) when mixed with a catalyzing agent or "hardener" and the parts are glued together with Super Glue or some other form of Cyanoacrylate.
Starfleet Models - FAQ
Plastic or Resin model kits is a personal preference. Plastic model kits are injection-molded and usually hollow and light weight when assembled. This is because most plastic injection-molded parts come in two halves which are glued together. Plastic models are easier to run electrical lighting inside because they are hollow. Resin model kits are usually solid and has more weight when assembled. Since resin kits usually have parts that are solid it is difficult to run electrical lighting.
Milicast Models - Frequently Asked Questions
No, our models are Multimedia kits. Resin allows us to produce our kits with a degree of detail that is not normally available in plastic injected kits. The use of aluminum, brass rod or brass photo etchings enables us to maintain the scale accuracy.
I cannot make one of ABS. But I can make one with a plastic of wood lipplate. I would normally use epoxy to fix the wood or plastic to the tube, but I could use shellac. However, shellac is brittle and may crack. I can decide not to plate anything, as I cannot guarantee every trace of the plating chemicals is removed.

You can use a propane torch on low heat at a distance of about 8-12". Move the plastic in the heat of the torch where you want the bend to be and flip it over heating both sides. After 1-2 minutes of heating it will be soft enough to bend around a piece of wood or similar. Clamp in place and let cool.

Ivory is actually the natural tooth of an animal. Teeth continue to grow throughout an animal's lifetime and as a result, they have a noticeable structure and "growth lines" (called Schreger lines in elephant ivory). Look at the piece carefully under a magnifying glass. Under a 10x magnifier, elephant and mammoth ivory will have visible striations or grain that often show up as diamond or "V" shapes or cross-hatching on the surface or edges of polished ivory.

Resin is nothing more than a 2 part mixture of liquids. But when combined at a ratio of 50% - 50% you get a hard durable product. Bowls and figurines just to name a few. They use a mold for products inwhich they pour the resin mixture into and it hardens very quickly. Resin kits require most of the same tools needed for plastic models, but there are a few differences. First off, styrene glue will have no effect on polyurethane resin.
Juicers, Dehydrators, Sprouters and More - Customer Service
I noticed that the Juiceman 2 has a 690 watt motor and the Ultramatic has a 450 watt. Would the Ultramatic tend to lug down more under a load than the Juiceman? They are both rated at 1/2 h.p.
The original RPE 228 used digital control of analog filters. The later RPE 228d filters are completely digital, utilizing some of the finest DSP technology available. This results in a much quieter and better performing unit. Both are discontinued. Use the RPM 2, the best solution yet. To obtain the best signal to noise performance from the unit it is necessary to adjust the INPUT TRIM carefully. By opening the INPUT TRIM window in RaneWare the level ladders may be viewed.

Our current top of the line plastic is called Champion plastic. Since the original introduction of the Champion (Candy) plastic, it has gone through three name changes.
