Failure to pay your fine in full could result in a conviction being entered against you. Upon conviction you will be required to pay the set fine including court costs and the applicable victim fine surcharge by the due date. Failure to respond within 28 days to your first Notice of Intended Prosecution may result in your case being passed to the Procurator Fiscal for failure to provide the required information.

Generally, if you do not pay the fine or fee, the Court (on behalf of the People of the State of New York) enters a judgment against you in the County Clerk's office and suspends your drivers license. It is not a tax, it is a regulatory fee for a service that is available to all landowners and it cannot be imposed selectively. The county has limited authority to fine people who have weeds.

Answer: Once an infringement notice (fine) has been issued, you have two options. You can either pay the infringement in full or appeal the fine by electing to have the matter heard before a court.
