Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu, Xubuntu, and Ubuntu Server all share the base (kernel, low level programme mes). This means you can install any of them on any other. We'd sure love to! The problem is, we don't have a clue how to do it =). If anyone else is capable of programming the KDE/GNOME side of this extension, we would welcome the help. For now, a good tool for tray minimizing on Linux is KDocker. It works for all NET WM compliant window managers, including KDE, GNOME, Xfce and many more.

Maybe. The code is written with portability in mind, but uses the Windows API for the graphical user interface. One fine day it may be ported to Linux or Mac ... but right now, we're aiming for a bit more stable Windows version. The compressed installer should be recognized by Stuffit Expander and should automatically be expanded after downloading. If it is not expanded, you can expand it manually using StuffIt Expander 6.0 or later. If you have any problems launching the installer once it has been expanded, make sure that the compressed installer was expanded using Stuffit Expander. KDE is easy to work with and has many useful features and well-integrated components such as the PIM package (Personal Information Manager). Additionally, KDE is probably easier for people that used Windows before, but this is rather a nice side-effect than a main reason for this choice.

Initially, Freespire will be built around the KDE environment, but again, being a community project, it's certainly conceivable that GNOME variations will emerge over time. There won't be either Linux or Mac versions. These were created with software that only creates a Windows version. Even if I had software that outputs versions for other operating systems, it could not import the project file used to create these and I would have no way to test them.

The Gnome and KDE desktop environments can get into such a state that they either won't start or start more-or-less uselessly. Or you may just have configured a miserable combination of fonts, colours and desktop images and want to start afresh. In either case, it's simply a matter of logging out, renaming the configuration folder(s) and starting the desktop again. Note that when you reset your configuration, you will lose all customizations made under those environments.

A Mac version is possible if a Mac or Linux game publisher will be interested in porting the game.
