It depends. Vista and WebCT are generally accessible. The problem arises when items and documents are added to the learning management system without consideration to accessibility. For example, if streaming videos are added to the online environment, they need to have captions or at least transcripts for students who are deaf. Also, documents need to be accessible for screen readers, etc. Some PDF documents are not automatically accessible.

Web CT Vista is managed learning environment: a web-based resource area where you will find lecture notes, handouts, module material and also communication tools.

Blackboard Vista is still the primary courseware used for conducting BCC online classes taught through the BCC Distance Education office. Teachers have the option to use either Vista or MyBCC Course Sites for communicating with their students. Students should ask their instructor each quarter how they intend to make class materials available to them.

BANNER Web is the EGC student information system that students use to do things such as view their course schedules, grades, financial aid status and related financial information, as well as register online. WebCT Vista is the EGC online course management system that students use to access online course materials, resources, etc., posted by faculty for the courses they teach. All EGC online courses utilize WebCT Vista.

Your WebCT Vista username is the 8 digits of your student ID (also known as your Banner ID) with the @ symbol. For example, if your Banner ID is @12345678, then your username would be @12345678. Your WebCT Vista password is the same PIN you may have used when logging into the Connecticut Community Colleges Online System ( www.online.commnet.edu ). Your initial PIN for the CC Online System is your date of birth formatted as MMDDYY.

Make sure you are entering the correct user name and password per your program's/campus' login protocol for Vista

You may link from your WebCT course page to your library course reserves list. Once we have your course page set up, you will have a persistent URL you can put into your WebCT course page. Your students will be able to click that link in WebCT and it will send them directly to your ERes course page with all your electronic reserves materials listed and organized in whatever way you request.

Your BANNER Web and WebCT account information will be emailed to your East Georgia College student email account. You will need to check your EGC student email account to access the email message that contains this information. SLS will get you singing quickly. The goal is to have you applying your new technique to songs as soon as you are ready! If you want to keep using cvsup, it also includes a tool that finds the fastest cvsup repository to download from using ping speed tests from your modem/router. The download speed mostly depends on the seeder-to-leecher ratio (SLR). Poor download speed is mainly a problem with new and very popular torrents where the SLR is low. A sidenote: make sure you remember that you did not enjoy the low speed. Seed so that others will not endure the same. In particular, do not do it if you have a slow connection. The best speeds will be found around the half-life of a torrent, when the SLR will be at its highest.

By resizing your images to the width and height you specify for your slideshow the load time can be significantly reduced. There are many image resizers available for download. One of them you might want to try is the Mihov Image Resizer.

Turn your graphics off--an option most browsers provide. This will significantly reduce the download time of graphics-rich pages by displaying only their text. (Some browsers--such as Netscape 1.1 or above--allow you to defer image loading until after the text has displayed. If you are frustrated by the slow speed of your computer, you may want to consider updating your browser (your browser is what allows you to access the Internet). Using the most up-to-date browser will provide the best experience on our site as well as the majority of sites on the Internet. The most commonly used browser is Internet Explorer, followed by Netscape.

By default, the visible distance and model detail are at full quality. You can easily adjust these by sliding the slider bars. In your videocard settings within Windows, make sure Anti-Aliasing is set to "application controlled". If your connection is excessively slow or frequently dropped, you may have some line noise problems. See the section above pertaining to line noise. You should always have the latest firmware for you modem - especially if you have a 56K modem. Firmware updates are done to fix common problems with modem connections. Failing to keep your firmware current is a major cause of "it used to work and now it doesn't" problems.

Once e-mails are pulled from the e-mail server, they are no longer stored there. If you were not to pull the e-mail and check it online, then the messages would be there.
