You do not usually need to pay the amount in dispute while your case is pending before the Tax Court. If the Tax Court ultimately concludes, however, that you owe some amount of tax, or if you settle or agree to an amount of tax liability, the law provides generally that interest runs on unpaid tax from the date it was originally due until paid in full. Most cases are handled in an expeditious manner. The Speedy Trial Act of 1974 establishes standard time requirements for the timely prosecution and disposition of criminal cases in district courts. After his WWF tenure ended in 1996 both filed lawsuits against each other claiming they had the rights to the name and likeness of the Ultimate Warrior. WWF claimed Warrior did not get to keep the name because he didn't live up to his contract. Warrior claimed WWF was unfair to his contract and that he owned the name before 1996 and even before he came to WWF in 1987 anyway. The case was settled in a court in Arizona sometime around 2001. Warrior won the case.

You can stop the court case by paying all the rent you owe, any late fees, court costs, and attorney's fees (if your lease says you may owe attorney's fees if the landlord takes you to court for unpaid rent). A PINS petition may be filed in Family Court by a parent or other person legally responsible for the care of the child, by a peace officer or police officer, by a person who has been injured by a child, or by a school or other authorized agency. The PINS petition contains a description of the child's behavior and asks the court to find that the child is in need of supervision.

The Tax Office schedules an initial status hearing within approximately 90 days of filing. Superior Court Tax Rules give the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia 60 days to respond to a petition.

soon as the Record on Appeal and the Final Briefs are served and filed, the appeal is ready for consideration by the Court. Most cases are taken under advisement within four to six months of being ready for consideration. Most of this time period is attributable to preliminary work on the case by the judges. Some of the time is delay caused by the large number of cases pending in the Court. Some cases are heard in oral argument.
