Absorption may vary with individuals and types of medication. Certain drug problems may arise depending on the type of ostomy you have and the medications you are taking. Make sure all your healthcare providers know the type of ostomy you have and the location of the stoma. This information will help your pharmacist and other healthcare providers monitor your situation (i.e., time-released and enteric coated medications may pass through the system of ileostomates too quickly to be effective).

The most common herb-drug interaction is that between the prescription blood thinning drug Warfarin (Coumadin) and herbs that thin the blood such as Garlic, Onion, Red Clover, Ginger and Ginkgo biloba.

Valproate (VPA) reduces the clearance of LAMICTAL. The dosage of LAMICTAL required in the presence of VPA is less than half of that required in its absence. See Prescribing Information for LAMICTAL. Combining supplements will not normally interfere with the way they work and in some cases may be beneficial. Although colostrum has no known drug interactions, you may experience side effects from other supplements, herbs or medications you take that you never experienced before. Colostrum heals the bowel. This means you are better utilizing the nutrients from the food you eat as well as anything else you put in your body. You may want to cut back or even rethink other herbal and nutritional supplements. Medications may need to re-evaluated for dose and need by your medical professional.

Do take vitamin C daily, plus a good hypo allergenic vitamin/mineral capsule and essential fatty acids (EFA's), like those found in flax oil, vegetable oils like olive - black currant - safflower - sunflower - sesame - evening primrose oil and fish oils.
