First attach the fuel line to the engine, shut the venturi with your finger and turn the prop a few times just until fuel fills the hose. Then, put 2-3 drops of fuel through the outlet holes in the cylinder, turn the prop twice, attach the glow plug and start the little one. Be patience, it may take a while till you get it... This seems to be normal for some engine types, such as the Zenoah G23 and G62. It seems to be a by-product of normal break-in, and is nothing to worry about.

I never saw the TeeDee throttle version but I have a Cox .049 with an exhaust throttle that worked fairly well. It is basicaly a ring around the lower part of the cylinder that is rotated to partially cover up the exhaust ports and limit the flow. It also had a muffler feature of sorts that really didn't do much. I think this method might work on a TeeDee too. It would be a simple thing to make and try. See similar questions...

Yes. Because the system controls the starter contactor, it is imperative that it operate during lower voltage conditions. Similarly, it must be able to handle the voltage spikes that can occur during engine start. The system operates normally from 4-32 volts. Our tests have shown that in a 14v system, the voltage normally drops to about 7 to 10 volts, but can go as low as five volts with a low battery. Pumps without a pressure release valve need to have the trigger pulled while starting the engine. This releases the pressure from the pump and makes for much easier starting. If the unit has been sitting for a long period, the gasoline may be stale, or there may be water in the gas. Try replacing with fresh fuel. Inspect the air filter to see if it is soaked with oil. Most engines use a pull start. The pull starter must only be pulled with small wrist movements - it is not a lawnmower! Connect the glow plug lead to the battery and the glow plug - prime the fuel line, set the throttle half open and pull the starter. Answer: Corrosive acid is formed primarily from sulfur blow-by in the combustion process. When sulfur particles combine with moisture in the crankcase, acid is formed, which in turn reduces the TBN or the amount of alkaline material in the oil. For Cox engines, I always used to use Cox Glo Fuel. From what I understand, these small engines up thru the .15 like high nitro, at least 15%, preferably 20%. Here, due to the expensive of the the fuel, most guys with .049's and .061's use just 5% nitro fuel (mostly powermaster) ... and no problems at all ! See similar questions...
