There are lots of different montors around, but most of those monitors use standard analogue video interfaces so they can be connected to PC video card with only quite small modifications (correct cable and possibly some simple electronics). Nowadays the modern VGA cards are quite freely programmable devices and in most cases it is possible to make the VGA card to send out correct signals for the monitor at least in one screen resolution.

Some manufacturers make special grpahcis cards for PCs which allow PC to be succesfully used with fixed frequency monitors. Yes, there is a place on the board where you could theoretically connect a VGA DIN-style connector to use a standard monitor. The LCD is driven by an internal LCD ribbon connector and I doubt it would be suitable to drive anything else, but the analog VGA connector should suffice nicely. Yep. The best way to do this is to purchase a commercial VGA signal splitter or video distribution amplifier. These are not cheap, but they will provide the best results. Yes! In fact, I use an IBM 15" aptiva display as my 2nd monitor and am typing this on it right now. :) You can get a mac->vga adapter, and I would advise getting one that has the dip switches on it. I got a Belkin one from Compusa that was cheap, but had no switches, and it didn't work. I got another that is a Philips (Model 9AVMAC-074I), and it allows me to dial in what resolution the 15" will run at.
