Your host family will provide breakfast and dinner Monday to Friday and breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday if you are at home. Lunch is not included during the week so you will need to buy your lunch in the city. There are many cafes and take-away restaurants close to the school.

If you decide to extend your stay before leaving home, you check directly with your hosts for prices and availability.

Our program strongly suggests that ALP students stay at least one quarter in the dormitory before going to homestay or apartment living. We have found that students coming to the United States are not aware of the distance to campus. Living in the dormitory allows the student to adjust to the American culture and geography before moving off campus.

Homestay is a privilege and something offered to IELC students who wish to have experience living with an American family. Students must complete a Homestay application and request a Homestay placement at least four weeks before the beginning of the session in order to secure a placement. If approved for Homestay, a student will be notified of their host family's information before coming to the U.S. Homestay students reimburse their host families $20.00 per day for expenses.

Yes. We ask the visitor to notify the host family that they will be staying outside the Homestay for the evening.

Our Homestay Program provides students and travellers with an opportunity to stay in a Canadian family and learn about Canadian culture. You will be have 3 meals per day, a private room and many chances to practice your English through conversation with family members.

Yes laundry facilities are included. Families are advised to arrange with their students for suitable days within the week to wash laundry.

Airport pick service can be arranged for you. Our airport transfer service will greet you at the airport and take you to your new home. Homestay is the most popular form of accommodation for international students. This experience may be very enriching, especially when you consider the friendships you will obtain with all members of the family. You can expect the following from a homestay: a private room with a single bed, a closet, a chair and a desk. Generally speaking, the bathroom may be shared with family members or other students. Two or three meals a day will be provided.

To request a homestay, complete the homestay application form and return it to the Homestay Company, Sweet Home Canada and they will begin the process of matching you with the best Canadian family for you.

CELOP does not arrange homestays ("host families") for our students, but if this is an option that interests you, you can contact Global Immersions, a local company that can help you find a homestay.

Most of the homestays are "smoke-free". Their rules say that if you smoke, you must smoke outside the home.
