Internet Message Access Protocol (or IMAP ) is a protocol of accessing electronic mail that are kept on a (possibly shared) mail server. In other words, it permits a "client" email program (on your PC) to access remote message stores as if they were local. For example, email stored on an IMAP server can be manipulated from a desktop computer at home, and a notebook computer while traveling, without the need to transfer messages or files back and forth between these computers.

To do this, you have to change some items in your pine config. Go to the Main menu in Pine. From that, choose "Setup" by pressing the "S" key. Then choose "Config" by pressing the "C" key. Then you'll notice a section called "folder-collections". That section we want to change so that it looks like this: The next time you use pine, it will save (by default) to the first folder collection listed. If that's not the collection you want, then change it back in configuration.

Quota limits are available from this page: http://www-admn.csun.edu/vp/policies/500_itr/500_09.htm. As of this writing, the limit for Faculty/Staff is 100MB. That means you can store up to 100MB worth of emails including attachments, in your IMAP mailbox. Please note that this quota pertains to the CSUN IMAP mailbox only. The folders that are currently housed within your local mailbox do not count towards this quota.

There are two ways of using IMAP with Gnus. The first one is to use IMAP like POP3, that means Gnus fetches the mail from the IMAP server and stores it on disk. If you want to do this (you don't really want to do this) add the following to ~/.gnus.el add-to-list 'mail-sources '(imap :server "mail.mycorp.

Input data for setting up your POP3 and IMAP includes your email server which is usually in the form of "pop.domain.com" or "mail.domain.com. Check with your primary email provider or ISP to confirm your POP or IMAP email settings.

Inbox.tntech.edu is a web-based email system. Access via IMAP or POP is NOT available. Optionally, you can forward your mail to another service, such as hotmail or gmail, and then use POP to retrieve your messages.

We currently only support POP3 mail services. IMAP is not supported. We also offer web based email access via a webmail account that allows you to check an unlimited amount of POP3 mailboxes. Just request to have your webmail account setup after we setup your hosting account.
