To create a transfer paper simply rub the back of the drawing with a soft graphite pencil . Wipe a cotton ball dampened with rubbing alcohol lightly over the back of the drawing in order to set the graphite . Now turn the drawing over and tape it to your paper or canvas. Use a colored pencil to trace your drawing. This will help you keep track of the lines you have traced.

A canvas transfer looks more like an original oil painting than a print but is much more affordable than a true oil painting would be. Unlike the prints, canvas transfers are framed without glass to show their rich canvas texture. Also, no matting is used around the image. Artwork is completed on Strathmore Bristol Paper, smooth or plate finish. It is usually 2 ply thickness. This is a good paper, and is acid free (resists yellowing). Most standard chalk drawings are rendered on bogus paper. Bogus paper consists of cellular materials of hard and soft woods. Wood based papers are prone to degradation due to the presence of lignin. Lignin that is not removed during the process of paper manufacture degrades to form acidic compounds. It depends on your client base and what you, the artist, prefers. Canvas prints often have a perceived higher value that paper prints. Customers will pay on average 30% more for prints on canvas than on paper. Consider printing the canvas print a bit larger (20%) than the paper print or offer the same image in varying sizes, either on the same and/or different media.
