That's a good question, I'm glad you asked. It's almost a shame that given all the possibilities CSS offers in designing a website that a table-based layout is still the most emulated. But, still, it does have its advantages and can be one of the harder things for a beginner to CSS to master. There are in fact several different ways to create a three column table, and there is no "right or wrong.

The current layout methods using floats and faux columns are not sufficient and very hackish. This is partially given that the IE browser does not entirely support position: absolute, but more generally spoken CSS has unsufficient features for layout.

There are two routes that one can take if they wish to use CSS to style their popups. First there are the CSSSTYLE commands Plugin - Cssstyle which provide styling via inline style rules. This approach works fine in all supported browsers except for Netscape 4.x which has difficulty rendering popups with these styles. The second option employs CSSCLASS commands whereby the user defines custom classes for the caption, close, body text and foreground and background appearances.
