Use the 'Tools', 'Mail merge' option. Step two of the mail merge helper lets you open an existing data source. Under 'Files of type' you can specify a Microsoft Access database, or use Microsoft Query to access other types of database. In recent versions of Word you will also see a 'Select method' check box.
