This has to do with the way the video is loading, not the quality of the video. In order for us to minimize space on our site, all videos have to load in order for you to preview them. Depending on your Internet speed, load times may vary. You can see the loading progress on the video itself in the form of a moving gray line. Take a moment to read the information about the clip to the right in the meantime, and once the video has loaded properly, it will play smoothly.

If your FPS count drops below 10, your video playback will be noticeably choppy. It takes a lot of processing power to play video on a personal computer. There are some factors might be the causes to slow video playback:

Try downloading the movie to your computer and watching it locally. Sometimes choppiness occurs when we can't stream it to you quickly enough (because your connection is slow or our servers are overloaded). If you're watching an MPEG-4 that we derived from an original MPEG-2, we first reduce its size to 320 x 240 - a quarter of the resolution of NTSC video. We then translate it at 350 kbps, which is really borderline for that resolution.

Increase your resolution to match the natural resolution of the LCD screen. This will provide a clearer picture. (See your user's manual for recommended setting for your model.)

If a video doesn't play continuously it may be due to your connection speed. Please note that a broadband connection with 500+ Kbps is required for continuous playback. It is also possible that your video download speed is slow or inconsistent. In this case, you can try pausing the video until the entire stream is downloaded, then play the video.

Oxygen.com is a high-bandwidth site, and requires at least a DSL connection (120k) to fully enjoy all of our features. Trying to view video clips from a dialup connection (or anything less than 120k) will cause the clips to appear choppy.

This is the result of insufficient buffering. One solution is to this problem is to let the video completely finish streaming to the computer and then play it. You may also need to get the latest version of direct X from Microsoft. Go to the Download Section to have it right now!

There may be a few solutions to this problem: 1.Upgrade your firmware 2.Defragment the memory card/device you are recording to 3.Choose a higher video recording resolution in the settings

The video is always scaled to fit inside the template. If you are using 240x180 video (the current default), use a template configured for this size (including the default template). If you are using 320x240 video, use a template designed for that size (currently called the "large video" templates). There's a large performance penalty in Flash to resize the video on the fly, so using a template optimized for that video size is important.

Check /var/logs/messages for "no free buffers" and try loading with [root@host]# insmod ivtv.o debug=1 to cut down on the amount of traffic to the hard disk which will reduce delays. The driver currently allocates about 1 second worth of buffering. Also try playing the stream on a different computer or operating system.

As with all things computer the choppy sound may occur due to connection difficulties with your service provider.

The encoding process gives priority to capturing video over displaying the preview. This simply means that the DCM is using those resources for capturing. The slower the computer, the more this will happen. Although this is a normal event, optimizing your computer or upgrading the system will lessen this effect.

The video frame rate (vid/aud tab) you selected for your video may not correlate well with the framerate of the source material. The video motion looks smoothest when the video frame rate you set (vid/aud tab) is equal to, or a factor of, the source video framerate (a factor of a number is a whole number which can be multiplied by another whole number to equal the original number).

Because it is. The frame rate is directly related to the hardware you chose to purchase. Different frame rates are available, including real-time.

Well, every Ultima required a fast computer. Even though Exult is just an engine that runs the ancient Ultima 7 it still requires a fast computer. Seriously, if the game runs choppy for you, try the speed setting in the Game Options menu and if that doesn't help also play with the original resolution (320x200), try a different scaler or disable scaling altogether.

The webcast clip may depend on intenet connection speed, and processor speed. For best performance, view the webcast with a Pentium III (or better) over a LAN connection. Modem connections or slower processors may cause the webcast to appear visually choppy, as a slide show with sound. When the webcast is intiated, it sometimes appears choppy no matter what kind of processor speed or internet connection you have. The webcast should improve in appearance by the third minute of viewing.

If the audio is choppy, it might be because of the network used to connect to the seminar. We recommend viewing the presentation from a computer that can independently access the Internet.

If you have a broadband connection of at least 512kbps but still have poor video quality, excessive buffering, or a total lack of video, this can be due to a lack of computer processing power or general traffic congestion on the internet. Try not to run other applications while accessing streaming media.

In rare circumstances, you may have to refresh the web page just after the install or upgrade to get the video to start playing. If it does not resolve your problem, you may have an antivirus, firewall or proxy that is preventing the download of the video content. Please temporarily turn off these services and try again if you are having problems in the video playback after the install.
