Commercial harvesting, buying, or selling is only permitted in designated areas. No commercial harvesting in the Jewel Basin Hiking Area, all wilderness areas and all portions of the Crazy Horse Fire.

Ontario Parks offers discounts on day-use and camping fees to Ontario residents over the age of 65 and Ontario residents with a disability who have a CNIB identity card or Ministry of Transportation disabled persons parking permit. When making a telephone reservation, please advise the call-centre agents of your eligibility for a discount. You will be required to show proof of your eligibility when you arrive at the park.

Information on "Commercial Harvesting of Edible Wild Mushrooms" is on the Ministry of Forests and Range website. Mushroom picking is permitted on provincial forest lands, but permission is required to pick on First Nations reserves, tree farm licences, leased Crown land, and private lands. Picking is not permitted in provincial or national parks, protected areas including ecological and special reserves, recreation areas and federal defence lands.

A16. Mushrooms Canada advises the public of the potential health risks associated with picking and eating wild mushrooms. Edible mushrooms may appear similar to poisonous mushrooms. Unless you are an expert at mushroom identification or are advised by an expert, our advice is to not consume wild mushrooms. If poisonous wild mushrooms are consumed, it may take several days for symptoms to develop; which may include but are not limited to: nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea.

You can collect plants without a permit for personal use. For commercial purposes, you need to visit your local ranger district and apply for a permit.

The first is graphically by colour. Regulated Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves are coloured different shade than other sites, including unregulated parks and conservation reserves. You can use the legend to determine which colour represents the regulated sites. When you use the identify tool to query a land use area you will see a field called Land Use Designation, this field can also be found in the Policy Index from the main page.

If you use sawdust spawn and follow a god watering regimen, our multi-range strains will finish the spawn run in as little as 6 months. You may see some mushrooms in the fall if you inoculated in the early spring. The first major " flush" happens generally the following spring.

After about 1 or 2 weeks, pinheads will start to develop. Pinheads are baby mushrooms. Once pinheads appear, mushrooms will develop quickly. When the veil of the mushroom cap starts to tear away from the stem the mushroom can be harvested. Harvest by gently twisting the mushroom at the base of the stem and remove it from the cake. Handle the harvested mushrooms carefully to minimize damage. Start drying fresh mushrooms immediately after harvesting.

There is on-site self parking available, but we suggest that you take advantage of the special valet parking service at the main entrance which will speed your visit. There is an attendant there who will assist you when you arrive.

Parking is a problem. We do not have any spots assigned to Day Camp. If it is at all possible to walk your child to camp, please do so. Otherwise, pull into the Kresge Parking Lot (see map) and inform the attendant that you are just dropping off your child for camp. This has been a successful approach in years past, however, we cannot be responsible for your vehicle while you are dropping your child off.

Pick-up on the first day will be in Lot B6 (Plummer and Etiwanda). Depending upon which building your child is in, he/she will be given a list of appropriate parking lots for subsequent days. Drop-off and pick-up is to take place in parking lots only. We recommend that you stay with your car when you drop-off or pick-up your child. We have “crossing guards” at each parking lot to assist your child across the street.

You may gather small quantities of branches, pine cones etc. for personal use. You may NOT gather large quantities of wood for firewood that is not to be used on site or gather other items in the forest which may affect wildlife habitat.

Mushrooms are the fruiting bodies of fungi, many of which are involved in the breakdown process of dead and decaying organic matter in the soil. In this sense then, they are beneficial and do not harm your living garden plants. Another large group of fungi, named "mycorrhizal," are also beneficial; living on the roots of trees and shrubs, helping these higher plants absorb nutrients from the soil. In turn, the woody plants supply carbohydrates to the fungi.

Many types of grow kit for magic mushrooms are available commercially. They are easy to use, but you have to be very careful to keep everything sterile, and to follow the directions accurately.
