Diagnostic laparoscopy and hernia repairs can be done under local anaesthesia but the other procedures will require general anaesthesia.

Some people believe they are allergic to anaesthesia because they've experienced nausea and vomiting after having an anaesthetic, however that is not the case. Nausea and vomiting are side effects.
