This varies depending upon what part of the country you are in. Pressure Treated lumber is usually Hem-Fir in the West and Southern Yellow Pine in the East and South. The framing lumber is also regionally dependent. It can be Douglas-Fir, SPF (Spruce-Pine-Fir), SYP (Southern Yellow Pine) or Hem-Fir. The roof trusses can also be a variety of the same species, but will usually have msr (Machine Stress Rated) lumber for chords.

Glulam and LVL are very difficult to pressure-treat, however, it may be possible to treat these products with borate during production as with borate-treated OSB currently available commercially.

Any type of wood or wood waste can be used as boiler fuel, but fuels over 55% moisture are more difficult to burn and can be problematic. The best fuels are the driest, as they burn well and typically produce the least air pollution, and usually require the least energy input to produce a given unit of heat or energy. Fuels up to 65% moisture will burn and produce limited energy. With a fuel moisture content of 55% and below combustion is more efficient and boilers will run with less attention.

We are very selective about the wood we use. We only use 100% solid American wood. We do not use particle board or foreign wood in any of our products. Most of our wood comes from local forest, which includes, Cedar, Southern Poplar, Hickory, Ash, and Southern Oak. We also use #1 grade pressure treated lumber, which is dry kiln after treatment.
