Charter Oak is authorized to award four General Studies degrees: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Associate in Arts and Associate in Science. Please see Degree Completion for more information.

The degrees are awarded by the National University of Singapore. The students also receive an SMA Certificate for completion of courses conducted jointly with MIT. The National University of Singapore is well known within Asia and throughout the world. The MIT and Singapore professors are highly regarded in their research areas. We are working hard to create a good brand name for SMA through excellence in teaching and research.

Posthumous degrees may be awarded when the student is qualified to receive the degree. Proposals need to be supported by the relevant College and the Senatus Undergraduate Studies Committee or Senatus Postgraduate Studies Committee. See section 13.6 of the assessment regulations.

Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees are awarded by UPG. We do not offer Associate degrees or graduate programs.

Students doing joint degrees are considered for Distinction in each of the degrees separately. Students who qualify for Distinction under one Faculty's regulations, but not the other will be awarded Distinction for one, but not the other.
