What are equinox and solstice?
YES WatchesThe sun turns 4 days out of the solar year of 365.4 days. Equinox, the only two days of the year when the days and the nights are each 12 hours long, is the day when the sun passes the equator. The equinox day/night is the template for all traditional watches and clocks. Fall Equinox falls around September 21st, and Spring Equinox around March 21st. Then we have the two solstices which is when the days are long and the nights are short, or vice versa if you are "down under".

Why Do You Say The September Equinox?
FAQI learned and adopted this expression into personal use from a friend and colleague, Katherine Becker. Although it is the accepted term, Katherine correctly pointed out that it was unfair to the folks in the southern hemisphere for one to say, for example, 'Autumnal Equinox' as it would be the opposite season in the southern hemisphere, spring. Question Has anyone ever driven a Solstice? What were their impressions?
Technical FAQ - Pontiac Solstice ForumAnswer Yes, there were four or magazines that drove the Solstice in February 2004 and wrote articles in June 2004 about the trip. It apparently took place in England. Part of the ride took place at Brooklands(?) and another part took place at Goodwood Race Course. See similar questions...
Did the ancient Egyptians observe the equinox?
Aquarian Age Star maps 2000The great pyramid and other monuments may have orientations to constellations and the precessional cycle according to the "Orion Mystery" by Robert Bauval and Adrian Gilbet. How long does a millennia last and how does that compare to the length of a great age? A millennia lasts for 1000 years while a great age lasts for about 2,160 years, so a great age lasts a little over 2 millennia. See similar questions...
Question: I've heard the Solstice is heavy. Is this true?
Technical FAQ - Pontiac Solstice ForumAnswer: While a curb weight of 2860 lbs seems heavy for a two seater car, it is actually an appropriate weight for a car of this size. General dimensions are 1" narrower than a Corvette C6, wheelbase just a bit shorter than a Honda S2000. For its size, 2860 lbs is pretty good - the Honda S2000 weighs about the same as this ('02 about 2840 lbs., '04 about 2870 lbs), and the BMW Z4 and Z3 tip the scales at over 3000 lbs. Why is it called the precession of the equinox instead of the precession of the equinoxes?
Aquarian Age Star maps 2000The phenomena referred to as the "The Precession of the Equinox" refers to the precession of the vernal equinox only. "The Precession of the Equinoxes" refers to the motions of both the spring equinoctial point and the fall equinoctial point which oppose each other and precess backwards through the zodiac at the same rate. What actual constellation will the equinoctial point be in on the spring equinox of 2000?
Aquarian Age Star maps 2000The vernal equinoctial point will be in the constellation of Pisces on the spring equinox of the year 2000. The vernal equinoctial point has entered or will enter the constellation Aquarius sometime in the next 600 years depending on what star map you use and where it draws the boundary line between Pisces and Aquarius. (Note: The spans along the ecliptic that measure great ages may not be the same as the boundaries used on modern starmaps or maps from other cultures or ancient times.) See similar questions...
Why does paranormal activity seem to increase near the autumn equinox?
International Parapsychology Research Foundation, Inc. infor...Although September 22nd marks the fall equinox, many persons, even those who do not have a strong psychic inclination, tend to note a rise in paranormal activity. This is an easily explained natural cycle that occurs with the change of the seasons. The reason behind this is explained by the decrease in the visible light spectrum due to the loss of daylight hours as the earth moves toward winter. See similar questions...
I am curious about some of the dates on Poseidon's calendar, notably the Spring Equinox. When is it?
The actual date of Spring Equinox has not been given or even determined, but we could try to figure one out right now... Planetfall was made in early summer in the southern hemisphere, and the Poseidon year is 330 local days long. A quarter year is therefore approximately 82 days. That means that the first post colonization spring equinox should have occurred somewhere around day 246. That seems right. See similar questions...
