Yes, cormorants and pelicans were identified with Newcastle disease in 1992 in Minnesota, South Dakota, Michigan and Canada. One South Dakota poultry site and two North Dakota poultry sites were affected. This episode of Newcastle Disease was not the same strain of END that occurred in California in 1998 and now in 2003, or that occurred in Mexico in 2000.

You may find a taxidermist that is licensed to import birds from outside of the USA and have him or her supply you with the necessary paperwork, or you may have us bring the birds back for you for a $50 per bird fee. Please remember that your birds will be inspected by U.S. Customs. We will not go there again...you know what to expect from them-there is no telling.

There are some regulations you need to know about bringing items back with you that you purchased in Mexico. Recently the duty-free personal exemption was raised to $800 per person and can be combined among family members. With the exception of daily papers from Regina, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, and Saskatoon, our entire collection of newspapers on microfilm is available via interlibrary loan.
