Yes. The College awards credit for an AP score of 3, 4, or 5 in any recognized discipline. Credit is awarded for a score of 5, 6, or 7 on a Higher Level IB Examination. AP and IB credit may be used to satisfy general requirements. Each academic department maintains its own policy regarding the use of AP or IB credit for placement in courses and progress in the major.

IB certificate candidates taking all or some IB classes may choose to take exams in IB subjects of their choice or they may have the choice of not taking any IB exams at all. IB Diploma candidates must sit for exams in all 6 subjects in order to qualify for the IB Diploma.

Diploma programme students generally take six exams, including one literature course taught in the student’s native language, one foreign language, one social science, one experimental science, one mathematics and one arts course. The arts course can be replaced by a second social science, a second experimental science, or a third language.

The Village School is applying to offer the IB Diploma Program. The process will be well-timed to benefit the Class of 2012 (Village’s pioneer class). Since students meet IB requirements and begin sitting for IB exams during their junior year of high school.

Each higher level (HL) math course earns 1 credit for a score of 5 and 2 credits for a score of 6 or 7. A subsidiary level (SL) math course earns 1 credit for a score of 6 or 7. The first IB math credit counts for Math 105, the second for Math 106, and any additional credit is considered as an unspecified credit. No double-counting with AP Calculus or A-level math is allowed.

Any student who does not take the IB exams will be given a parallel ISP exam. In this case, no IB certificate or IB Diploma will be granted but the student will get an ISP grade. It's important to note that in order to get college/university credit for IB subjects, the student must sit for IB exams.

Exams can be taken at any accredited training company or there are open exam centers in Milton Keynes, York and Winsford. These Exams run only on certain days and places are pretty much booked in advance, sometimes there is a 4-6 weeks waiting list. Bear this in mind when planning your training. If you are based outside the UK and wish to complete a PRINCE2 exam, it is usually possible to sit them in a British Council office.

The International Baccalaureate program is a comprehensive and rigorous college-preparatory program designed to meet the needs of academically talented and highly motivated high school students. Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization in Geneva, Switzerland may offer the IB curriculum and allow their students to sit for IB examinations in hopes of earning an IB diploma.

Yes, with a score of 4 or 5 on the AP test administered by the College Board. In the case of the Calculus BC exam, a score of 3 or better is acceptable. The number of credits offered for and requirements fulfilled by each exam are detailed in the College catalogue. For IB higher level exams, scores of 5 or higher are accepted for credit.

Alma awards 32 credits to students who earn the IB Diploma. Alternatively, we award credit for individual exams at the Higher Level (HL) with a score of "5" or above.

We will accept IB credits if your undergraduate institution has verified your International Baccalaureate coursework. Yes, you would be eligible to apply. We would evaluate your application based on the grades that are currently on your transcripts. Qualified applicants would move through our process with the understanding that any offer of admission would be conditional on a final transcript showing successful (grade of "C" or better) completion of the required coursework.

The IBO is a non-profit international educational organization that was established in 1968. The IBO offers to schools three programmes of international education that span the primary, middle and secondary school years. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is designed for students aged 3-12, the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students aged 11-16, and the Diploma Programme (DP) for students aged 16-18. While these programmes form a continuous sequence, each may be offered independently.

Answer: Comparing the number of IB diploma students with the number of AP diploma students is comparing apples and oranges. The differences between the two programs are significant. In fact, there is no AP diploma. The College Board, which administers AP exams, stopped offering an AP diploma four or five years ago. At that time, FCPS said it would continue recognizing students who take a specified number of AP courses and exams with an AP certificate.
