No, there is not. The music plays as a safety precaution warning you not to drink the water while the unit is cleaning because acid water should never be consumed. (It is all right to brush your teeth or gargle with, but not to drink.) However, you may manually override the cleaning process by pushing the pH button on the unit. That is what is called "fine" coming off the carbon in the filter and it is normal. It will clear up within the first few seconds of use. The main purpose of the carbon filter is to remove chlorine, which means the filter is designed to be used with municipal water. How often the filter should be changed depends on how much chlorine there is in your municipal water. If there is a lot of chlorine in the water, the filter should be changed once a year.
