Yes. The recycling center is open to the public but is primarily for apartment and condo dwellers. Recycling is located in the service yard at 15600 Chagrin between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. (A separate backyard recycling program is available for single and two family buildings.)

Schedules for trash pickup and curbside recycling pickup depend on where you live. See the trash pick-up schedule for more detailed information. Your recycling will be picked up at the curb on the same day that your trash is picked up. All recycling bins are to be placed on the curb, not in the alleys. A free bin may be obtained at the department of Public Works, located at 1100 E. 4th Street, or at City Hall downtown.

Snow is plowed to the center of the street so it doesn't block the path of melting snow flowing to street drains along the curb. Also, this way it doesn't get in the way of cars parked along the curb. Another benefit of having snow pushed to the center of the street is that it serves as a barrier between lanes of traffic going in opposite directions.

Yes. The program occurs on the 4th Saturday of each month from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Berniece Bennett Park, 31800 Village Center Rd. Westlake Village. The program accepts oil filter, anti-freeze, latex paint and car batteries. The program cannot accept oil-base paints/stains, paint thinner, pesticides, household cleaners, aerosal cans, or unmarked cans.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center is a department of the City of Rock Island. A non-profit corporation was established with a governing Board of Directors which allows the center to seek grants and donations to support programs. Your recycled items can be made into a huge variety of new products (see the Recycle Now Website for a selection of products made from recycled materials). Plastic bottles can be made into fleece jackets, glass can be recycled again and again into new bottles and jars without losing it's quality, aluminium cans can also be recycled many times and made into new cans (or cars!). Paper and card are pulped and recycled into new products such as toilet roll, cereal boxes, newspapers etc.

Waste generated in the subways and on subway platforms is handled by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). When NYC started its recycling program, the MTA, in cooperation with the NYC Department of Sanitation, placed recycling containers on a trial basis on the platforms of certain high-traffic stations. They found that riders used recycling containers for both garbage and recyclables, negating the extra effort on everyone’s part.

In the early 1990’s, when recycling was mandated in NYC, the Department of Sanitation tested the practicality of street-corner recycling by placing separate recycling bins on well-trafficked street corners. Our initial expectations were that street corner recycling would be a good tool for educating the public about recycling, as well as providing the City’s recycling program with a highly visible presence. If you are selling 150 or more cartridges, just contact us and we will coordinate the shipping with the appropriate carrier. Depending on the cartridge mix, we will determine whether to use a freight company such as Yellow Freight, or a parcel carrier such as UPS. If you are selling less than 150 cartridges and paying for the shipping, you can use the carrier of your choice.

Whenever the cartridges are ready to ship, you should contact us. In order to minimize confusion, please do not call us until the cartridges are packaged and ready to go. In many cases, the pickup can be scheduled for the next day.
