Instructional, Communication & Information Technology offers a number of Web-based storage options for UW-Whitewater faculty, staff, and students. You do not need a disk to use one of these options. For more information on these different options, and instructions on setting up an account, see File Storage Options on the iCIT Web site.

Click-and-hold with the mouse over the image, you should get a pop-up menu with "Save Image As..." as an option. If your image appeared in a separate window, the program that opened it should have a save item in its menu. Simulator images should be renamed since they're automated output from a script.

Right click on the selected document title then select the Copy Image To option. A Warning Screen will appear, click OK. In the Save In box use the down arrow to select either the A or C drive (A$ on 'Client' (A:) or C$ on 'Client' (C:)). You may choose to change the file name at this point. If a security screen comes up asking what level of access you want to give the application, you must select Full Access to save the files to your local drives. Then click the Save button.

Once you've selected the option to either save the file or save to disk make sure you are then saving it to the hard disk inside your computer. Check the file size, it may be too large to fit on one floppy disk and cannot be segmented into several disks (however, this segmentation can be done after download is complete).

If you have enough download credits, you will see a "Download" button on the right side of the issue presentation. All you have to do is browse trough the issues and press the button to start your download.

Using the right mouse button, select Extract Parts. A Save dialog box is displayed and you can specify the path and name for the file as usual. You will be warned if the file size is 'large' and asked if you wish to continue. Some forms can be downloaded, however many forms use a numbering system for reference. These forms should be retrieved for each use so separate numbers can be generated. Documents will be updated. If you download a form remember to review it regularly to make sure you have the latest document.

Many of you have asked for software to enable you to save your documents to the PDF format. PDF or Portable Document Format is a file format that captures all the elements of a printed document as an electronic image that you can view, navigate, print, or forward to someone else. PDFs can be read by any computer without platform conflicts. PDFs open with Adobe Acrobat.

To simplify the process of retaining and destroying files as required by your firm’s policy, it is important that the system track documents correctly. One aspect of tracking is identifying when a file is a version in the same document thread and when it is the start of a new one. To assist you in making the correct decision, the Document Retention service prompts every time you use Save As to create a new copy or version.

When you use a tracked file to create another file, you are prompted to decide whether the new file is in the same document thread or the start of a new document thread. This is the most convenient and reliable method of tracking documents if you are just starting to use the application.

Your print cart is emptied when you close your browser; however, you can save the print ready document to your desktop. To save the document, click the "Print" link in your Print Cart to open the document in Acrobat Reader, and then go to File - Save A Copy to save the PDF to your computer.

Floppy disks are available for purchase in the bookstore. In case of emergency, the IC Help Desk has loaner floppy disks, which must be returned to the Help Desk when you are done with them. IC Staff recommends that students invest in a USB Flash Drive to store their files.

First, create a folder on the hard drive e.g. “D:\Data\Top50”, then copy the entire content of the CD. If you have not yet installed the program, start Setup from the CD and follow the instructions there. The Geogrid Logo appears and a message is displayed alerting you to the fact that the map drive was not found. Now open the item “Directories” in the “Settings” menu and add the new pathway (e.g. D:\Daten\Top50).

Yes. All of the Dell computers come equipped with floppy disk and CD-RW drives. External Zip drives are available. The Apple computers come equipped with a CD-RW and DVD-RW drives. External floppy and Zip drives are available. All users have the option to save their files in the save folder located on the hard drive, however, these files are only for temporary storage. Files in the save folder can be modified or deleted by anyone using the computer.
