No. This program is a cohort program. The spring courses have fall courses as prerequisites. New cohorts begin each fall.

Feed the bulbs in early spring with a recommended bulb fertilizer or one low in nitrogen. Allow the bulbs to bloom as usual. Wait until the foliage dies back and separates easily from the bulb when given a gentle tug. If you cannot transplant them immediately, mark their location and transplant anytime through late summer. No. We really encourage you to start in the Fall semester. The six required courses are really three two-semester sequences; due to this sequence of course offerings, candidates should not apply for Spring admission.

A common misconception about Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region is that our winters and heavy snowfall begin in November or December. October, November, December and many days in January and February are still sunny and relatively mild. The biggest difference between these months and our summers is that the temperatures are just lower, with mornings and evenings at times cold enough for a heavy jacket.

You can't compare a class in the winter session to one in the spring....that like comparing good O'l Nebr steak with tofu. The winter session goes much faster. Remember, we are packing a semester into 6 weeks. That does means we move FAST. The same material, labs, topics, etc are in both types of classes. On line simply means that you do the lecture part at home....somewhere away from the campus.

If you have a Fall only loan or Spring only loan, the funds will come in two disbursements. The first disbursement will be approximately 30 days after the beginning of the semester. The second disbursement will be approximately one month after the first disbursement.

It truly depends on your individual needs. There are many organizations that offer internship opportunities throughout the year, and others that may only offer summer opportunities. Many students enjoy focusing on their internship during the summer, while others feel it is best for them to pursue the opportunity during the Fall or Spring semesters.

Landscaping can begin in the spring as soon as the frost is out of the ground. Nursery plants are generally potted up bare root or container grown in the field. Larger, caliper trees or pre-dug in the spring and kept covered with sawdust and watered daily so they can be planted throughout the year. It is definitely unadvisable to try and transplant deciduous trees or shrubs once they have leaved out as their chance of survival is very low.

I only spade or rototill in the fall if I need the exercise, and I do that before I add my compost or other rakings. I always spade again in the spring; that’s a must. Soil becomes compacted or pushed down from snow and rain. If you just scuff it up with a rake, you don’t give the new seeds and plants a fair start.

If you apply for housing for the Fall semester your contract will be for the full academic year (*see next question for one exception), which means August through May. If you are not going to be living with us in the Fall, you can apply for housing for just the Spring semester at a later date (usually in early October).

The academic year follows the calendar year: Semester 1 usually starts in February or March and runs to June or July. Semester 2 begins in July and runs to November or December. Break time is an excellent chance to see the United States beyond the college campus. Most students use the time to travel or study.
