The Seattle Residential Code (SRC) Sec R105.2 allows you to build an accessory structure up to 120’, measured from eaves and overhangs, without a building permit. However, other code requirements and development standards may impact your project to the point where a permit is still required. There are area limits imposed by the Zoning Ordinance. The area of all accessory uses--the area of your attached garage plus any detached garages and sheds and any other buildings (structures with roofs) on your property-- are added together.
