Wax helps to create a barrier between the bracket and the inside of your cheeks and lips. It helps prevent the bracket from irritating your cheeks or gums. At first you will probably use a lot of dental wax, but as your get used to your braces and the insides of your cheeks "toughen up" you may wind up using less.

We utilize many different types of both hard and soft wax depending on the area to be waxed, they type of hair growth and the client's skin. We do not change any additional fees for hard waxing and tend to use hard wax (a.k.a. stripless wax, European wax or Brazilian body wax) on underarms and bikini lines as a rule as these tend to have very coarse hair.

Lead wicks are not available in the United States any more. Most people confuse zinc cored wicks with lead these days. L'ocean uses only 100% cotton wicks in our candles, providing for the best possible burn.

We only use enteric coating when certain ingredients need protection from stomach acid and are better released in the small intestine. This is not necessary for all the nutrients we use.

Powder clear will keep newly polished aluminum rims looking like the day they where polished. Clear powder is also good to protect plumbing and inside, outside lighting fixtures.

To use dental wax, break off a tiny bit of wax from the container, smoosh it with your fingers a bit to mold it, then place it directly on the bracket that is causing the irritation, as shown in this photo. Dental wax is non-toxic, so it's ok if you swallow it. Wax tends to break down over time, so you'll probably have to apply more after eating a meal. Take off the wax before you brush your teeth, or it will gunk up your toothbrush. Dental silicone, such as Ortho-Sil is a little different.

Avian-D was initially designed to be a coating used outside and in adverse environmental conditions. However, we have modified its formulation to also make it an excellent coating for laboratory applications. The primary difference is in the reflectance in the UV (below 350 nm) and in the NIR (above 1200 nm). Avian-B coating is a better coating to use if your application requires high reflectance below 350 nm or above 1200 nm.

Our citrus carries a post-harvest wax that's approved by the USDA Organic Program, but we don't use wax on any other Earthbound Farm organic produce. Some of our apples may have the appearance of being waxed, but this is a natural coating produced by the apple itself to retain moisture.

When two plates are welded together with one overlapping another there can be problems with the interface. Consider using one part with greater thickness instead.

Professor Mike Hill at U.C. Davis has studied different coating for use with slitting. He uses an acrylic coating and then paraffin wax on top of that.
