In the navigation bar at the left of your Outlook window, highlight the 'Mailbox'... it's likely to appear as 'Mailbox - Jane Smith' or similar. A size summary window will be displayed. It will show local Mailbox size, and server Mailbox size. The total values for these two should be roughly the same.

Trying to access my mail account via the Web, I get an error message regarding a failure to get my inbox.

When you select a view, GroupWise searches for items in the selected folder and displays the items in descending order, from the largest file size to the smallest. You can click Stop Query at any time to stop the query. Use Mailbox Storage Size Information to view your mailbox size and to manage items to regain space. If your mailbox size exceeds the limit, you cannot send new items until you archive or delete some of your existing items.

In the new window, you will see the total size of your mailbox as well as the size of each of your individual folders. That way you can see what folders need to be cleaned up.

Each member of staff and research postgraduate is allocated 200MB filespace on the Exchange Server. In order to facilitate housekeeping, we recommend you regularly check the size of your Mailbox, and the individual mail folders therein, allowing you to decide when, and from where, it might be appropriate to delete old and unwanted items.

Microsoft Outlook limits the size of Personal Folders .pst files and offline folders .ost files to 2GB. If a new or changed item increases the size over than limit, you will not be able to use the .pst or .ost file. Even if you delete items from the server mailbox, the .ost file will not synchronize. Microsoft provides a tool called Oversized PST and OST crop tool to trim down a .pst or .ost file that exceeded 2GB. The tool truncates the .pst or .

You can determine the size of your entire mailbox by selecting Mailbox - Last Name, First Name instead of a single folder. If you are having trouble staying below quota, it may be useful for you to locate solitary large messages which are clogging up your mailbox. To do so: Go to the Search Folders below the Sent Items folder and click on the Large Mail search folder. This will show all messages larger than 500 KB.

You will not be able to send any emails when your mailbox reaches 4.5 MB (approx. 4500 KB) of space used. You will not be able to receive or send any emails when your mailbox reaches 5MB (approx. 5000 KB) of space used.

Your mailbox allowance is set to a limit of 20MB. This includes all mail stored, received or sent within your mailbox at any time.

To check your mailbox size using the full Outlook email client, click Tools > Mailbox Cleanup > View Mailbox Size.

Click on OK a few times and then run Outlook. The additional mailbox should be listed. If you receive errors when you try to expand it you need to check your permissions to the mailbox.

Outlook and GroupWise both use the built-in "Mail Profile" feature of Windows to determine the mailbox information. If you open Outlook but the computer is configured to read the GroupWise mailbox (or vice-versa) you will see the contents of GroupWise. Since both programs are installed on your computer you must either specify which profile to use or have the system prompt you.
