What is the difference between sanded and unsanded tile grout?

Sanded tile grout is used on tile with a grout joint width equal to or greater than 1/8 of an inch.

It stops the grout from shrinkage and adds strength so that the grout will not crack. Un-sanded grout is used in many wall applications because of it's non abrasive texture.
