The system we use requires some high-level programming knowledge. We use a relational database, MySQL, along with our own customized programs and storage system. The page above contains instructions on how to do that. There are several commercial image databases.

In order to be able to search the database using your personal user account, first log in on the homepage. This takes you to the database. You can now search by word or phrase for individual images or selections (>Go!), for complete folders covering a particular category (>find folder) or for pictures within a particular folder (>in folder). By clicking on an image, you can see a layout preview and the associated text.

All popular browsers are suitable for searching and downloading. These include: Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Netscape, Safari and others.

With Domino 1.5b3 and later, add "&Login=1" to a Domino URL. This will force the user to log in before allowing access to a database (without requiring you to set Default and Anonymous access to No Access).

A database is a collection of data organized especially for rapid search and retrieval (as by a computer). [Merrian-Webster's Online Dictionary] Some specific examples of databases accessed through the Bell Library include Academic Search Premier, ArticleFirst, PsycINFO, and TOPICsearch, which can be found on the library's Databases Web page.

If you wish to repeat the same image within the same publication a repeat fee can be negotiated. Similarly if you wish to repeat the same image over a series of issues then again we can negotiate a suitable fee.

To put an image onto a website using Dreamweaver, the image file must first be put into the local site, then checked in to the development server before being uploaded to the live site. The steps involved in putting an image on to a website are the same as for uploading other standard document types. The image can then be linked to or included in a page.

Your browser must accept cookies. You personal settings, including your access details, are stored in a cookie on your computer. You can turn cookies on and off, or even delete them. For most browsers, you will find this function under 'Settings'. To gain access to the full functionality of the image database, you must activate cookies in your web browser. When you have done this, relaunch your browser.

The test button works fine, but I cannot login. I turned on "Show Reason in Access Denied Message" and it just says "Bad Password" :-( How to setup SQL database on a different machine, not on the webserver itself. (Can also help with a W2K3 SP2 permissions issue)
