GRP roofs are ideal for the incorporation of flashing details and specific soakers for Velux units or rooflights etc. Independent GRP soakers or flashing units can also be manufactured on site for use on a variety of roof surfaces (tile, fibre cement sheet, slate etc.) although we still advocate the use of a lead flashing to the perimeter of our GRP roofs to aid in the transmission of moisture vapour.

Insulation can easily be incorporated beneath the GRP roof structure (in accordance with warm roof/cold roof situations). We create a breathing roof system which allows moisture vapour to vent at the edges without compromising the roof's overall integrity. Larger areas may require the inclusion of roof vents that are easily incorporated into the roof structure.

Yes. We fit genuine brand Velux Roof Windows and not the cheaper roof windows that are also sometimes referred to as "Velux" but actually belonging to another manufacturer. We do not install Colt Roof Windows and do not stock this range of roof lights

It is unlikely that the cedar is causing the deterioration of the flashings: any metal will rust if exposed to certain elements in the air. Many tropical areas do not allow any kind of galvanized sheet metal on any type of construction.

A GRP Roof or gutter lining will remain virtually maintenance free for a period in excess of twenty five years. GRP roofs that have been protected from UV degradation by chippings on the gel surface should remain serviceable for considerably longer. After twenty five years, a new gel surface can be applied to roofs and gutter linings extending life expectancy even further (subject to specific site conditions).

A VELUX roof window can generally provide up to 40% more light than a dormer, as it is installed at a pitch of 45o. It can also be up to 70% cheaper. A VELUX roof window also provides a good overall outlook while dormers restrict both the upward and side view.

These are all different names for water-proof or water resistance nappy covers - the bit that keeps leaks contained! I tend to use the term 'nappy cover' simply because it is easier for those who are not familiar with all the different terminology. Nappy covers are either breathable or non-breathable and can be pull-up style, or secure at the front waist or sides with Velcro type hook and loop tape or snaps.

A velux conversion is one that uses rooflight windows installed into the pitch of the roof to give light. There is no visible extension of the loft beyond the existing roof line therefore planning permission is not required.
