If you do not have a High School diploma or GED, you may still qualify to attend Western Beauty Institute. Kentucky issues certification based upon completion of an approved certification program. You need to contact a Kentucky college or university. An advisor will evaluate your transcript and outline a curriculum contract listing specific coursework needed. Since each college or university has their own requirements, and Kentucky uses standards-based preparation, you may want to contact several institutions.

The GED Testing Program compares your performance on the tests to the results of Grade 12 students on the same tests. The tests take into consideration the skills and knowledge people are expected to retain from high school, especially the ability to reason, put together information, and draw conclusions. If you obtain a standard score of at least 450 on each of the five GED Tests, you will receive an Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate.

To begin the process of obtaining a GED all participants must attend a GED orientation. The GED orientation provides participants with information about the GED tests, allows time for required paperwork and scheduling of exam times. The orientation typically requires 45 minutes. All applicants must bring an official government issued picture identification to the GED Orientation and to each testing appointment.

For financial aid purposes, you must show “ability to benefit” from a college education. If you cannot show this by HS Diploma or GED, you may take an “ability-to-benefit test. This test can be scheduled through our testing center.

No. You do not need a social security number to take the GED tests., but you will need indentification such as a passport or driver’s license. Many states require you to be a resident of the state.

Answer: No. But, if you are under 19 yr. old, you do need the signature of the superintendent from the school district from where you last attended or currently reside, that shows that you have officially withdrawn from school; or you have been home schooled; or you currently reside in a district in which you never attended school.

There are a number of local educational programs. If you have trouble reading and writing, your officer can refer you to a basic adult literacy class. If you would like to learn how to speak English better, your officer can refer you to an English as a second language class.
