No. Our MP765 coating can refinished with a quick manual scuff-sand (220grit) and then two coats of our MP765 water-base varnish. Let it dry overnight before subjecting it to regular foot traffic and you are done!

Many hardwood floors can be sanded and refinished at least once and as many as three times or more. The exact number depends upon the total thickness of the product or the thickness of the top layer of premium hardwood (engineered floors). To refinish wood floors, the existing finish must first be sanded off completely, and then the floors smoothed out and flatten. Repair work and filling is done if necessary and a stain or finish is then applied.

When your floor begins to look worn, dull and/or scratched it may be time for a recoat or refinish. A simple test to indicate which process you need done, is to pour a tablespoon or two of water onto your floor. If the water beads, your floor is simply a little dirty or tarnished from wear and tear. The solution in this case is just some cleaning and stain removal or a recoat (read FAQ #19).

Voyageur Flooring we offer a “dust-control” service by taping off the refinish area during the sanding process with plastic.

Leveraging a partnership with a local storage business, Voyageur Flooring will deliver a portable storage unit to your house one week before the sanding/installation of your hardwood floor for you to use as storage. After the work on the hardwood floor is completed, you will have one week to move your things back in, at which point we will remove the portable storage unit from your driveway. We offer this option as a part of our “regular” services to customers.

Voyageur Flooring, we use only the best products available. Because of this you can expect the finish on your hardwood floor to last from 7-10 years. (The need to refinish your hardwood floors, at some time, occurs because of normal everyday traffic and wear.) We do not recommend refinishing an older ski. If the ski has been badly damaged or neglected we don't recommend using it. If you intend on using it, you can touch up the spots where bare wood is exposed by lightly sanding the spot and applying an exterior urethane based product, isolating the bad spots with masking tape. We have found that refinishing a ski makes it thinner, more flexible, and more likely to break. Old skis are already more brittle than their newer counterparts.

With a gym floor covering, you can hold events like dances, conferences and assemblies without fear of damaging your floor. This can also allow you to create revenue by renting your gym out for these events. If you have events that are not athletic in nature, you will save money on refinishing costs and maintenance. If you are placing the walk-in cooler on a cement slab that is at ground level with no basement or crawl space underneath, no insulated floor will be necessary. You will need to provide insulation either on top of, or underneath, any cooler placed over a basement, second story, or crawl space. The refrigeration will pull the heat out of the flooring, and if there is warmer air underneath condensation will form, causing damage to the floor material and space below.
