You should contact a counselor or an advisor prior to initiating an official withdrawal from college or from a specific class. The counselor or advisor will explore alternatives with you and, if appropriate, assist you in completing the withdrawal forms. Completed forms must be submitted directly to the Admissions and Records Office. Students who withdraw from college by the deadlines listed in the class schedule will receive a “W” in each course.

You may drop credit courses without restrictions during the first two weeks of the quarter. (See Important Dates.) These dropped courses will not be recorded on your transcript. A $20 change fee will be charged during the second week of the quarter for each course dropped. You may drop only one course each academic year (defined as September through August) during the period from the beginning of the third week through the end of the seventh week of the quarter. No notation will be made on your transcript if you drop courses or withdraw from Summer Sessions prior to the last day of the session. But be sure to verify your Summer Sessions enrollment status. Do not anticipate that the University will automatically drop you from a class due to nonpayment or non-attendance. You may drop your classes by using URSA OnLine or by submitting a Student Update Form to the Registrar's Office at 1113 Murphy Hall.

You are given a grade of "W" for that class. At the end of the semester, the instructor will complete the grade by adding either a "P" for passing or an "F" for failing. The results on the transcript will be a "W" or a "WF" respectively. A "W" grade does not affect the GPA. However, the "WF" grade IS figured into the GPA as if it were an "F" grade.

A "W" will not affect your GPA. Boise State limits the number of W's a student may receive while enrolled. A student may receive up to ten W's for a baccalaureate degree, and five W's for an associate degree, advanced technical certificate, or technical certificate. Once the student has exhausted the allowed number of W's, the student may only receive letter grades.

Students of Iowa Lakes who are experiencing difficulties in a class should meet with the instructor to explain their concern. Iowa Lakes Community College students are encouraged to go to the Success Center for tutoring and other support services.

After approximately 25% of a session has passed and until mid-term, a withdrawal grade of "w" is automatically posted to a student's record when the student withdraws from a course. The grade of "W" does not affect the student's GPA. If a student drops a class after mid-term, the grade of "WF" for that course will automatically be assigned to the student's record. The grade will have the same affect on the student's GPA as an "F".

If a student notifies the College of his/her withdrawal of registration, in writing, by the day prior to the official refund deadline date a 100 percent refund will be made. The refund deadline date is equivalent to 6% of the number of times a course meets. The refund date is listed on the student's registration confirmation.

quot;W" stands for withdrawal. It is not computed in your GPA, but affects progress probation and dismissal. See Grading Policies for a complete explanation of grades & how to compute grade point average.

The class must be dropped in person at the college admissions office. When you withdraw from a course, you MUST inform your instructor and your high school guidance counselor. Find withdrawal dates for the semester on the calendar pages in the Lone Star College System catalog. Yes, information regarding the early graduation program is available from your high school counselor's office.

It depends on when you withdraw and if you remain enrolled in other classes. During add/drop week, a withdrawal is a drop that will change your aid package. For the first 4 weeks of school, a withdrawal could change any Higher Education award from SSACI.
