Textured glass is made by embossing a pattern onto molten glass to give the desired design or texture. The pattern is applied to one side of the glass, but the design can be clearly seen from both sides. Several of our special order door designs are made using textured glass.

Unless it's a recent breakage, it gets kicked or swept into cracks, against walls, or right against curbs and isn't strewn about. For the little glass that does remain, again, just watch where you're going! All surgeons have different opinions regarding massaging smooth breast implants implants. Some doctors ask all their patients to do it, and others say that it is not necessary or beneficial. The doctors who suggest it believe that it helps to keep the pocket open, thus helping to deter capsule contracture. Whether or not your doctor asks you to massage has nothing to do with how the surgery is performed. It's simply a matter of whether or not your surgeon prefers and recommends massage.

Textured implants were intended to lessen the risk of capsular contracture (hardening of the breast from scar tissue forming around the implant). The success of this is controversial. Many surgeons prefer to use textured implants when they use contoured (anatomic implants).

In the 1970's capsular contracture was a much bigger problem than it is today. It was found that by adding texture to the shell of the implant the capsule that formed around the implant was much thinner and softer. Originally it was thought that a textured shell may decrease the capsule, but this in fact is probably not true. Smooth implants have a smooth silicone rubber exterior while textured implants have a rough surface usually composed of silicone rubber. Other materials, such as polyurethane foam have been used in the past to create a textured surface, but only silicone is available presently.

Most certainly you can stencil on texture. However, you may loose some fine detail since the brush and the paint will stencil only the high points of the rough surface. Choose a stencil with larger detail when stenciling over texture.
