Indeed, I did. In various forms. I studied to become a bilingual secretary, graduated after two years, and realized that I didn't want to be a secretary. Armed with that degree, I applied to a translation program in Munich, Germany, was accepted, studied there for two more years and graduated with the title of "certified translator". I also hold a Master of Science in Journalism from an American university (Quinnipiac University, Connecticut).

So we played with 5 hole paper tape, and learned to enjoy mathematics wherever it cropped up, and learned that it cropped up everywhere. Later on, my hobby was electronics.

We used a stratified, random sampling procedure. Paul Gross FAQ Page
He said that as a child, he always played guitar. As a teenager, he studied classical guitar for 5-6 years and was going to audition for a concert, but instead 'chickened out' and went camping instead. He didn't pick up a guitar for 3 years after this, which was partly due to a broken finger. We don't know when or how he broke his finger.
National Reading Panel (NRP) - Frequently Asked Questions
The Panel followed three paths for gathering information for its study. The first was to review a variety of public databases to determine what research had already been conducted on how children learn to read. The second was to gather information from the public about their needs and their understanding of reading research. The NRP accomplished this by holding public regional hearings. The third was to consult with leading education organizations that had an interest in reading issues.

After sliding through two successful but un-looked-for careers, I went back to school to get credentialed in my second career.
