The ICH Gene Microarray Centre has always run on full cost recovery. In other words, we have to pay our staff and cover equipment service costs. We also need a small surplus for R and D, like trying out new labelling procedures, new arrays, etc. The facility charge, which is included in the prices quoted, covers these costs.
