If the judge determines at the preliminary hearing that there are sufficient facts to believe that you committed the crime, you will be bound over to Superior Court (note that many counties have consolidated their municipal courts into one superior court). The hearing is a chance for the student appeals panel, which is made up of three members (the Chair, an academic and normally a student representative), to ask any questions or to clarify any points in your submission.
