The Checking Outlook Mail with Other Mail Clients document provides the settings for configuring other mail clients for checking your UNT Outlook mail.

Any program which downloads mail to your computer may be used. You may also use mail user-agents, which run on our servers, such as pine or elm.

If you want to manually configure your profile, please see How to Create an Exchange Profile in Outlook 2003. For Office 2007 on domain systems the profile is configured automatically. Please see How to Create an Exchange Profile in Outlook 2007 to be walked through the process.

Make a note of what you currently have in the "incoming mail server" entry (the name of your POP3 server). Change the "incoming mail server" from the name of your POP3 server to "localhost" (no quotes). Outlook Express has a Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus option at Tools | Options | Security . If this option is enabled, Outlook Express will disallow you to access any attachment that may potentially be a virus, for example, a file with an .exe or .scr extension. You can just turn off this option to access your attachments.

Yes, although not as elegant as our Outlook solution, you can still make use of the File or Text encryption features of the Zendit Vault to perform your encryption and paste or attach the encrypted text or file in your e-mail in any e-mail system. As Zendit integrates with additional e-mail platforms, registered users will be informed.

This varies depending on what format your folders are stored in. With the default Berkeley format, the last session to open a folder will get full access to the folder and the previous session(s) will be changed to read-only access. When a folder is read-only, you will not see any further updates to that folder until it is reopened with full access. Currently the INBOX cannot be reopened without exiting and restarting Pine.

If your college or department supports Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA), you can read your mail by clicking on the Outlook icon in the upper right corner of the RamPoint screen. If your department does not support Outlook Web Access, you cannot get to Outlook from the portal.

The Internet Connection Wizard makes short work of setting up your email box by walking you through each step for every e-mail account you set up. Start Outlook Express, and on the Tools menu, click Accounts. If the Internet Connection Wizard starts up automatically, skip ahead to step 4. SurgeMail uses mdir format to store mail which cannot be read by mail clients that read the mail drop file directly. The "Deliver" mail delivery robot can be used to deliver mail to a drop file: Deliver is available from sourceforge.net and can be configured in SurgeMail using a mail redirection rule in surgemail.ini as per: g_redirect was="marijn@mydomain.com" to="|./deliver -b /var/surgemail/mydomain.com/hd/fg/marijn/dropfile"

You need to make nano your $EDITOR. If you want this to be saved, you should put a line like this in your .bashrc if you use bash (or .zshrc if you believe in zsh): Change /usr/local/bin/nano to wherever nano is installed on your system. Type "which nano" to find out. This will not take effect until the next time you login. So log out and back in again. Then, on top of that, if you use Pine, you must go into setup (type S at the main menu), and then configure (type C).

For the incoming POP3 and outgoing SMTP servers in Outlook, set both to yourdomainname.com using your own domain name. For your admin user, the username in Outlook is simply the admin user name. For additional email users that you create in your control panel, the username for Outlook is the full email address (emailuser@yourdomain.com).
