Yes, the IB staff has the right and the responsibility to remove students from IB if their academic performance is inadequate to enable them to be successful in the program, if they engage in cheating, dishonesty, or any breach of integrity, or if their behavior is such that it interferes with students' opportunities to learn or teachers' opportunities to teach. There are two kinds of IB assessments: external and Internal. Some assessment methods include portfolios/Dossiers, written essays, studio works, experimental work, oral commentaries as well as written exams and are tailored for the different learning styles. Considering that exams may or may not reflect what a student really knows and what he or she is able to do, having a variety of assessment tools allows the IB organization to fairly assess the student's true ability.

Students and parents are invited to attend an orientation session on the International Baccalaureate program. Yes. Students who wish to transfer to Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD to participate in the International Baccalaureate program may apply as early as 7th grade for Pre-IB status. If accepted, students will not be charged a transfer fee. If the student chooses to exit the IB program or if he/she does not maintain satisfactory progress, he/she will not be allowed to remain in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford schools.

Answer: Comparing the number of IB diploma students with the number of AP diploma students is comparing apples and oranges. The differences between the two programs are significant. In fact, there is no AP diploma. The College Board, which administers AP exams, stopped offering an AP diploma four or five years ago. At that time, FCPS said it would continue recognizing students who take a specified number of AP courses and exams with an AP certificate.

Admission into the Wichita IB program is by application only. The selection committee evaluates seven criteria: transcripts, standardized tests, teacher recommendations, attendance history, a writing sample, the results of a critical thinking test, and an interview with a member of the IB staff. The program accepts 40-60 evening students every fall, and up to 25 executive students. All applicants are notified by mail about whether or not they have been accepted between one-two months after the application deadline.

The number of students admitted to the VCC specialist program will vary from year to year. At this point, there is no cap to the number of spaces in the specialist program, though students seeking admission to the program (at the end of their first year of study) do need to be formally accepted in the specialist (a process that takes place at the end of May, with a smaller process taking place later in the summer.

IB is designed as a model of holistic education for the mid-range student and above. Statistically speaking, most students who earned the IB Diploma worldwide were of average or above average ability. It is not a program designed only for geniuses. What the IB program requires students to have are a strong work ethic, good time management and solid study skills. The IB program offers courses at different Levels (higher level and standard level).

IB certificate candidates taking all or some IB classes may choose to take exams in IB subjects of their choice or they may have the choice of not taking any IB exams at all. IB Diploma candidates must sit for exams in all 6 subjects in order to qualify for the IB Diploma.

Diploma programme students generally take six exams, including one literature course taught in the student’s native language, one foreign language, one social science, one experimental science, one mathematics and one arts course. The arts course can be replaced by a second social science, a second experimental science, or a third language.

IB encourages students to appreciate cultures and attitudes other than their own and to be informed and willing to communicate with others. The IB approach to education is not encyclopedic. The emphasis is on helping students to learn how to learn and how to analyze. IB provides a broad general education while still allowing specialized study in areas corresponding to the individual's particular interests and plans for the future.
