Why use concrete?
Basketball Courts?Deshayes Game CourtsConcrete allows us to build a better court, guaranteeting the base for 10 years. Why do you use rattan as opposed to steel?
AwardsEvery "live steel" group I've seen is a little ginger for my taste. If we used live steel someone would be pretty seriously injured, as that is what authentic weapons are designed for. You can really mix it up with safe properly weighted weapons in a manor that more realistically simulates heavy combat, than fighting gingerly with steel weapons. I guess it depends on wether the ability to fight with earnest and speed is more important, or the desire to handle steel swords.

What kind of Stainless Steel does Rolex use in their watch cases?
Rolex Frequently Asked Questions... QualityTyme.netWhile most high-end watch companies utilize 1.4435 (or 316L) Stainless Steel, Rolex uses 1.4439 (or 904L) Stainless Steel. While they both have the same grade of hardness, 904L has a slighytly higher nickel discharge, and thus a slightly higher resistance to corrosion. 904L is mainly used in industry applications handling chlorides, sulfer dioxide gas or other toxic materials.
Why should I only use Concrete Barrier under concrete?
How to calculate rFoil reflective insulation and No-Tear rad...Regular rFoil is made up of a layer of bubbles between two layers of foil. The lime in the concrete will dissolve the foil in just a few years. Concrete Barrier is made of a layer of foil between two layers of bubbles. The bubbles protect the foil from the lime, making it a better choice. It's also puncture resistant up to 85 psi, compression resistant up to 140 psi, is a vapor and radon barrier, and is much easier to use than 2" foam board.
Why do we use concrete shoulders with PCC lanes when asphalt concrete shoulders are less expensive?
Division of Design - Pavement - Frequently Asked QuestionsAnswer: Tied concrete shoulders (with tie bars) provide stress reduction along the longitudinal joint between the outside lane and the shoulder. The largest amount of stress from truck tires is along the outside edge of pavement, so the tied shoulder spreads the load more uniformly across the longitudinal joint. An asphalt concrete shoulder does not connect to the PCC and does not provide that edge support like a tied PCC shoulder.
What are the advantages of epoxy asphalt concrete for an orthotropic steel deck?
ChemCo Systems | Epoxy Asphalt Frequently Asked QuestionsEpoxy Asphalt pavement has excellent resistance to fatigue cracking and it also helps stiffen the orthotropic deck system. This high performance pavement reduces (dampens) deflection of the deck plate and extends the life of the deck plate. It does not rut or shove even at high deck temperatures. Depending on the design of the deck system it can be applied at any thickness from 25mm to 75 mm or as an overlay at 19 mm.
How can I prevent concrete steel reinforcement from corroding due to the presence of chlorides?
Concrete Admixtures - Grace Construction Products - United S...A well designed, durable, low permeability concrete mix, with an appropriate water to cementitious materials ratio (w/cm) using a high range water reducer will provide some protection against corrosion of embedded metals due to the presence of chlorides. Additional protection can be obtained by further reducing the permeability of the concrete with the use of Force 10,000® microsilica admixture and including DCI® Corrosion Inhibitor for long term durability.
How does concrete effect the environment compared to wood and steel?
Sustainability FAQs | PCA Press CenterConcrete is one of the most inert building materials in use today. It does not rot, burn or rust, providing durability that significantly outlasts many other building materials including wood and steel. The cement industry utilizes industrial byproducts like fly ash and consumes less energy than its competitors. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. cement production accounts for 0.33 percent of energy consumption—lower production levels than steel production at 1.

Why use StreetPrint? as an alternative to concrete or brick pavers?
ISLAND PAVING :: Streetprint :: Residential: FAQS :..StreetPrint? can be installed very quickly with relatively little disruption, so it is usually much less costly and disruptive than concrete alternatives. StreetPrint? uses asphalt as its base. Asphalt is a flexible surface that is more likely to accept shifting due to weather extremes and can resist cracking commonly associated with other paving systems. Vehicle braking/accelerating and steering will not shift or break StreetPrint?, as often happens with brick pavers.
Should I use concrete, pavers or stone?
Lifestyle Landscapes: Landscape Design/Build SeattleConcrete is an inexpensive and durable option, but it will crack. Pavers are more expensive but last longer, provide more of an interest from a design perspective, and are easily repaired if earth shifting occurs. Stone creates a beautiful and natural look but is the most expensive option. Many stone applications can be sandset, which is flexible to ground shifting. Occasionally stone requires a mortar setting, which is less tolerant of ground shifting.
