There is some flexibility in the kinds of courses that can be offered through Regent's Park, but their strengths will lie in what is commonly called the humanities or social sciences subjects in the United States. The following subject areas are the ones most commonly pursued: English, Philosophy, Religion/Theology, History, Art History, Economics, Politics, Classics, and Mathematics.

Yes, many of our volunteers qualify for different studies and work with us a number of times. However, you cannot participate in more than one study at a time, and there is a minimum waiting period between studies. This waiting period is known as the "wash-out" period and varies between one and four months, depending on the medicine that was tested. Also, if you are a blood donor, you must not have donated blood for three months prior to applying for a study.

If you have a laptop, particularly one that automatically adapts to European (240v) current, you'll appreciate having it here. Life will be much easier, especially as you will be writing many essays and now that all rooms are wired for internet access. But you will also be ok without one. The Programme has a number of desktop machines on site, along with a couple of laptops that students can check out to use in libraries or in writing papers.

Travel to and from Oxford is easy. There are buses every half hour from both Heathrow and Gatwyck airports, about two hours one way. Buses also run every 15 or 20 minutes between Oxford and London, a trip of a little less than two hours. From the Oxford train station, a 15-minute walk from the College, you can travel throughout England, over to Dublin, up to Glasgow or Edinburgh, or even catch the train to Paris. Local buses connect Oxford to Wales, Bath, Stratford, and the Cotswolds.

Wherever my toothbrush is. The two cities are complementary, though. Oxford is quiet, the traffic reasonably bike-friendly. I have a tributary of the Isis flowing at the end of my garden and of course, there's the Bodleian Library. Dublin, on the other hand, is frantic, full of movement.
